The reformation, and the dissolution of the monasteries and friaries across England and Wales, turned many wonderful buildings into ruins, pillaged for stone. But not all monastic churches disappeared. Many of them took on the role of the parish church, and here I’ll be looking at five of them, close to my home in the South of England.
